Virtual tours are the new open day
We’re not going to get into the ins and outs of the decisions our Government have made over the past 11 months (yep – it’s been that long) in relation to all the changes we need to make and adapt to ‘due to Covid’, but let’s just say that when they make a good one, it really stands out!
The decision we’re talking about in this case lies in something small – but still significant – that they advised schools to do as Head Teachers roll out online/remote learning provision in the face of school closures.
In recent Department of Education guidance and webinars on the matter, the Government suggested that Head Teachers move to more virtual means of promoting and showcasing their establishments in order to satisfy the parents of current students, as well as to entice the parents of prospective students for future enrollment.
It can be as early as September when schools start opening their doors for open days designed to attract students for the following September’s intake. But, with those final few months of 2020 rendering the possibility of any kind of Autumn showcase completely out of the question – and with the first three months 2021 going in exactly the same direction – school leaders are all probably shaking their heads right now in terms of what they can do to ensure that the 2021/22 Academic Year runs with a full cohort of kids.
Admittedly, no school is at a disadvantage to another at this point, given the fact that they’re all in the same Covid-ridden boat when it comes to the guidelines surrounding who may and may not pass through their doors, but that doesn’t mean that they can’t take an opportunity to find an advantage to recruit and run with it. Sorry, teachers… walk with it.
It’d be too easy right now – and my god we are not judging any school leader or teacher who wants an easier life by this point – to sit back and think, “Let’s just get through this year”. In so many ways, we champion that attitude. Teachers have the hardest job in the world even without the presence of a pandemic – our co-Founder Anthony should know, as he was one himself – but we know that so many school leaders right now will also be focusing on the future, and taking hope that by the time the new school year arrives, we may well indeed be through this. At that point, they want to be firing on all cylinders.
If that attitude sounds like yours, head over to our website and find out what we can support your school with at iRoam as you look to attract your 2021/22 intake of students today – without even having to open your doors to them…
You’ll have to open them to us, obviously. We can’t create a fully interactive virtual tour of your school or virtual open day that showcases everything you have to offer without getting inside the building! But, our Covid-secure operations, combined with the fact that old BoJo has ordered that your premises are closed to your kids for another 6 weeks, means it’s the perfect time to get us involved – and get your school both attractive and accessible for your future intake.
