We’re not passionate about creating and providing Virtual Tours. It’s you who should be!
At iRoam Tours, we’re not passionate about creating and providing Virtual Tours for schools.
Yes, you read that correctly.
It’s true, we’re not passionate about the tours we create, whether they’re for places of education such as schools, colleges and universities… or anywhere else we’re asked to provide them for.
We love our work, we’re good at it, and we get the joy of working with the best head teachers, principals, and school leaders from the most forward-thinking and student-centred schools in the country, but we’re not passionate about what we do.
Why? Because in our view, we’re angry that people still view Virtual Tours as something ‘extra’; a bonus, or something that’s a nice addition to the offering at a place of education.
We create Virtual Tours for schools, nurseries, colleges, and universities not because it’s a fun or ‘niche’ thing to do – but because we believe that they are absolutely necessary.
Being passionate about our work implies that this is a labour of love, but our work is so much more than that for us. It’s the stone-cold knowledge that this kind of support to promote accessibility, inclusion, and equity for our children and young people is a vital cog in the education system. We are completely committed to the point of ‘why aren’t you already doing this?’ to making sure that schools and places of education start to recognise this importance.
More and more of the young people in our mainstream and non-mainstream education systems are coming in through our school doors with disabilities, access issues, and sensory impairments. Schools are attempting to cater for them once they’re enrolled and sitting in their classrooms doing their best to access a form of the curriculum that can work for them, but what are schools doing to show those same students that they are valued before they even come in through the door?
Of course, we’re not just talking about students with specific recognised difficulties, but about those who suffer with things like anxiety – and don’t we think that after a year of a lockdown life we ALL have increased anxiety about going to new places?
Schools absolutely need to be making better use of technology and innovative thinking, and they need to be more understanding of people’s needs and the situation people find themselves in due to the pandemic. As parents, carers, and even teachers, we need to be expecting that schools will offer Virtual Tours as a core part of their way of showcasing their school and valuing their prospective students.
If, as a parent, you’re wishing that more schools in your area offered Virtual Tours as part of their enrollment offer, give us a call.
If, as a teacher, you feel the same way we do, then you need to give us a call, too, because creating Virtual Tours for schools just like yours is what we do – and you could be the next school on our list. With both you and your students having to worry about literally nothing in terms of how easy such a resource is to share, manage, and navigate, it will be one of the easiest decisions we bet you’ll have needed to make all year.
It’ll certainly be one of the most beneficial.
